TOO AFRAID TO SPEAK
I want to write a poem about you,
I want to dig deep and put my words out there,
I want to be honest with myself.
I search for the words but all I get is silence.
A numbing, deceiving silence.
But perhaps this silence speaks seas of truths,
Perhaps its my place holder for my thoughts,
Thoughts too painful to open,
Wounds still too fresh,
Scabs not quite formed enough to peel.
But I’ll do my best,
I’ll peel beneath the surface,
I’ll peer behind that eerie silence,
I’ll push back the tears and seek the truth.
Fearlessly.
